Growth through Research, development & demonstration in Offshore Wind

Join us at the Wind Energy 2050 Conference

The need for innovation in Offshore Wind Energy Full-day programme on 11 November 2025, in Delft

During this full-day event, leading experts, innovators, policymakers and industry partners will explore wind energy’s past achievements, present challenges, and the innovations crucial for future upscaling. With ambitions of 70 GW for the Netherlands and 260 GW across the North Sea by 2050, delivering cutting-edge solutions is more critical than ever.

Preliminary program

08:45 - 09:30  Walk-in and Registration

09:30 - 11:00  Setting the Scene - With an outlook on and an interactive debate about the global and regional role of wind energy towards 2050. Gain insight into pressing challenges from policy, commercial, and research angles: from regulatory uncertainty to a roadmap for circular wind and innovation bottlenecks.

11:00 - 11:30 Coffee break

11:30 - 13:00  Above the Water: The Wind Resource and How to Harvest It -Discover the answers to questions like: Is there enough wind in the North Sea? How to manage the wakes: from single turbines to multi-GW clusters. The push for ever-larger turbines, is bigger always better? Additionally, what innovative wind turbine technologies are there?

13:00 - 14:15  Vegetarian lunch at the Wind Energy Innovation Market - with demos, start-up booths and poster pitches

14:15 - 15:45  Below the Water: Innovations in Foundations and Installation - Explore the future of foundation engineering from a manufacturer's perspective, including material supply chains, production limitations, the transition to green steel, and the design of foundations and scour protection with a nature-inclusive approach. Discover quieter, faster, and more efficient foundation installation methods shaping the future of offshore construction.

15:45 - 16:15 Afternoon break

16:15 - 17:15 Towards 2050: Market Regulation, System Integration, Hybrid Power Plants & Best Poster Award - After learning from the past, we must look forward and stimulate and accelerate innovation. Discover more about wind-based hybrid power plants that integrate solar, storage, and hydrogen to form resilient, multi-source energy systems. What should energy market regulation look like in a fully renewable system? Is there a need for an offshore demonstration site to unlock the next generation of technologies?

17:15 - 18:30  Drinks and Networking at the Wind Energy Innovation Market Join us for a day of inspiration, debate, and networking — and be part of shaping the future of Offshore Wind. Throughout the programme, several ambassadors share their views on the session topics in relation to broader themes, including ecology, cybersecurity, the required innovation ecosystem, and more.

Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn and lead.
