Growth through Research, development & demonstration in Offshore Wind

A major step forward for Green SOCCS

We are proud to share an important milestone in the Green SOCCS project: the successful inversion of pipe sections welded together.

This major milestone was presented during the Green SOCCS partner day at Aardwarmte Vogelaar hosted by RG-projecten, marking an important moment of shared progress within the consortium.

This achievement marks a significant proof of concept for the technology. Green SOCCS is built around the principle of installing a steel casing pipe underground through an inside-out inversion process, enabling long-distance, trenchless cable installation with minimal environmental impact.

Demonstrating that welded pipes can withstand this inversion process is a key step towards real-world application. It confirms that continuous, robust casing pipes can be created and installed to meet the demanding requirements of underground energy infrastructure.

With the growing need for large-scale cable networks to connect offshore wind and strengthen our energy systems, innovations like Green SOCCS are essential to accelerating deployment while reducing above-ground disruption.

This innovation is being developed in collaboration with a strong consortium of partners, including Ampelmann, Callidus, Delft Offshore Turbine (DOT), Plumett, Tata Steel, TenneT, Twentsche Kabelfabriek (TKF), TU Delft, and Van Leeuwen Sleufloze Technieken. A big congratulations to everyone involved for this excellent result — and we look forward to the next phase of testing and development.
